Observing the Assembly

Covid-19 caused several changes to the Assembly’s proceedings and as a result we were not able to hold Assembly meetings in person: the seven weekends of the Assembly took place online.

Principles of transparency and accessibility govern Scotland's Climate Assembly. All evidence sessions were recorded and we would invite anyone who is interested to watch these sessions. Links to watch the evidence sessions are available on the Meetings page of this website.

A virtual observer session was hosted at each weekend where attendees could learn more about the Assembly’s evidence base and deliberative process and get involved with Q&As with some of our speakers. While the majority of observer places were by invitation, requests to observe were welcomed via an open registration form on this website. As the Assembly has now completed its seventh meeting, this registration is now closed. Any questions should be directed to info@climateassembly.scot.

The virtual observer sessions at Weekend Six and Weekend Seven were recorded and are available to watch on the Meetings page of this website. The deliberations between Assembly members are private and it was not possible for observers to listen to or participate in those discussions; this is standard practice across citizens' assemblies.
